KAREN MCKENDRY

Nickname

Bruiser, Chef, Macca, Mac, Caramac

Where from?

North Mymms via Enfield, Winchmore Hill and Edmonton

What sort of player?

BOWLER – Should be really… it would have made standing in the field for 51 overs last season more bearable.  Used to bowl at my brother in the back garden.  More economical than Duncan.

BATSWOMAN – Right-handed slogger, zorro-esque at times… would be better if I could use my hockey stick.

Cricket Background

Winchmore Hill as a spectator and one-time player during cricket week for the Hockey Section, Civil Service as a player when they were short.  Beach cricket player.

Last season

First season at Mymms.  Played once for 4s and was given out by one of the colts caught behind when I swear I didn’t touch it.  Played twice for 1st team on Sunday… 0* against Chorleywood (got a leg bye and had a bruise for a fortnight to prove it). Adopted a colt for Colts v Parents game on Friday of Cricket Week.  Made a lot of new friends.

Cricket Highlights

Going to Boxing Day test Oz v SA at the ‘G’.  Owning Nasser’s signed shirt.  Selling out of sweet and sour pork a couple of weeks ago in Karen’s Kitchen.  Cricket Week last year was pretty special.

Lowlight

Having to listen to Blackie tell his story about getting Viv Richards out every other week.  Being stuck in a paint fumes filled toilet cubicle with Mousey for 3 hours… only for him to be replaced by Brighty for the next 2 hours…. What did I do to deserve that?

General Comment

Am really pleased that Duncan decided to join North Mymms.  Everybody has made us very welcome.  Am enjoying doing Karen’s Kitchen on Saturdays and had great fun in the close season doing up the clubhouse and furniture.  Hope we will be around for many years to come.
