The Giant Sleepover - Saturday 14th June 2008

You may be aware of the Giant Sleepover being held overnight on Saturday 14th June and Sunday 15th June 2008. You will find full details on www.giantsleepover.com.

One of my colleagues at North Mymms Cricket Club suggested that an event be held at the club. We have now registered and need to move quickly to sort out numbers.

We will meet up at 7 – 8 p.m. and start setting up tents on the outfield. We do need to wait until the Second team match against Redbourn has finished of course! You will need to supply a tent, sleeping bags for your children or group of children and help in setting them up. If the weather is bad then we simply transfer to the clubhouse in which case a sleeping mat would definitely be advisable – the girls would sleep in the snug bar and the boys in the main bar area. We would have the option of using one or more of the changing rooms as well for different age groups. However, assuming we use the great outdoors then we would organise tents in three areas – boys, girls and family groups.

We will organise some form of entertainment before lights out. You will see from the website that there will always be adults awake during the night. I would expect to have at least one male and female awake at all times. If anyone has difficulty sleeping then we could have a job for you!

In the morning there will be other activities including our regular Colts session which all participants are welcome to attend. We will need to be clear for the Second team match against Botany Bay starting at 2 p.m. I expect to be captaining the team in this match so will appreciate obtaining some sleep during the night!

There is a charge by the organisers of £2 per child which is a contribution towards the goody bag. Participants are encouraged to obtain sponsorship. The club will not be making any charge as we see this as a way to work in the community and encourage children to play cricket.

To take part simply let me know!

Thanks.

Chris.
